Here at Autism First we believe in accepting young people for who they are and who they wish to be. Central to any recommendation or intervention is the young person. We accept where they are in their journey at the initial contact point and through collaboration determine their next steps and what WE need to do to help them get there.
We believe that all students with autism, their parents, carers and teachers should have timely access to specialist services.
Our work begins with an in-depth assessment of strengths and needs. All interventions and recommendations are evidence based to ensure we keep up to date with current practices and thinking in the professional autism community. Our team believe in drawing on a variety of techniques, theories and interventions that are uniquely designed to meet the individual persons' needs.
We are dedicated to helping others understand autism and the unique perception that each of our young people bring to our lives. Understanding and accepting difference is key to happiness and success within the world.
It is vital that we draw upon a variety of skills and disciplines in order for a holistic intervention approach to be successful. We listen and take on board suggestions from all people involved in the young person’s life and have access to a variety of professional expertise including Occupational Therapists and Educational Psychologists in order to ensure we provide high quality intervention.
